Hadley had a really fun, hopefully memorable birthday weekend. Friday, the day before her birthday, she had a party at "school." I bought all the kids cupcakes, they sang her Happy Birthday at lunch time, and her teachers sent her home with a birthday bag full of goodies. That night, she requested that we sing her Happy Birthday as her bed time song.
The next morning she decided to sleep in until almost 9, then got up and we sang her Happy Birthday again. We played for a little bit, and then took her down stairs where it was like Christmas morning all over again. She opened every single gift with care, even taking time to read the cards. I think this has been my favorite present opening experience by far. She is finally at an age where she truly understand what "presents" are, and she was so thankful and happy when she opened each one. It was so adorable to see her yell "Swiper, No Swiping!" when she opened anything related to Dora the Explorer, or request that each present be opened and played with immediately. She even adored the birthday card we got her, and still plays with it. (It's one of the only Backyardigans things we could find!) We didn't take many pictures, but got lots of video. The rest of the day was filled with breakfast at IHOP, riding her new bike, followed by her Dora birthday cake, and an afternoon picking out more toys from Uncle Mark at the toy store, which quickly led to an evening of playing Play-Doh.
Sunday afternoon we took her to Indoor Safari Park in Southlake. They have an indoor play area, mechanical animals to ride on, and Hadley's favorite - a train. We didn't have a big party for her, just invited Sophie and Megan because she plays with them quite often, and her cousins. She had a stinking blast! The girls all played so well together. Here are a few pictures from the play place:
