Haircut time

Today was such a fun day. We did our usual things but with some new twists and it just worked out to be a better than usual day.

First of, Hadley and Teagan slept until 10AM. 10AM!!! And they only woke up because I went upstairs and very loudly started moving around. Once our sleeping beauties final pulled themselves out of bed, we set off for our usual Saturday morning at Hadley's swim lesson.

She had a great lesson. She's swimming 15 feet and did roll over breaths all on her own both ways! Before swim we talked about going to the jump place in the same facility after her lesson. However, as we were leaving we walked past the hair salon that she always stops at and asks for a haircut. But today, we said yes. We said she could chose between getting her hair done or jumping. She chose the salon.

So in we went on a whim and got her hair cut. She's only been one time before. About a year and I only let them cut her bangs. This time she got the real deal, with glitter and all.

After that we decided to have lunch at Central Market, so she could play and we could eat. Again, a great time and loved sitting outside relaxing.

We got home, rested for a bit, and Hadley and I started coloring, playing, etc. All usual but then we got into this whole project of cutting an egg and gluing shapes on it. Next we made a ladybug and then a sheep with cotton balls. These seem like silly things to write about, but we just had such a great time together. It's been really tough lately because I've been working constantly and we miss each other. I see the look in her eye when I leave in the morning and she just doesn't understand why I would "want" to leave her. I really don't either.

The time I have with her is limited. So when we have great days like today it means so much. I'm very ready for this semester to be over. My priorities have been off lately and I'm ready to focus on what matters most to me. I have to meet my obligations, of course, but if my students have to wait a little longer for their grades, well they can wait.

Great days should be documented! Thanks for sharing. Yes... priorities are hard to keep when we lead such full lives. :)
