Saturday we met my sister and her family at the Texas State Fair. We started the day by taking the girls on a ton of kid rides. Hadley says her favorite was the swings, but she smiled the most on the airplanes (which she is still pronouncing wawck-planes).
Then we headed to the petting zoo, but stopped for some Shaken Lemonade and Fried Cheesecake on the way. All the kids loved seeing the animals, but I think Caden had the most fun. He was patting all the baby goats and touching their horns without fear. Hadley got to feed some babies and also a big duck.
The zoo was followed be a desperate search of fried Oreos or snickers. We didn't find anything right away, though we missed out on the fried cookie dough because there were at least 50 people waiting in line for that! The guys checked out the car show but weren't very impressed.
Finally we were able to find a food pavilion with fried snickers. We wanted to go on the ferris wheel, but the line was also ridiculous and it just didn't seem like a good idea with 5 kids who were already pretty exhausted. Next year we'll definitely have to hit up the ferris wheel and the butterfly exhibit. All in all, we had a fabulous day!
