I finished my thesis on April 19 and submitted my grades the 1st week
of May, so I have been officially done for awhile now! I am done being
a student for awhile and won't be going back to teaching at UTA until
Spring 2011. When I do go back, I plan on teaching part time at night
(2 classes 2 nights a week) so I can stay home with the girls. I'll
start looking for a full time position next summer.
In the mean time, the first few weeks of being a stay-at-home-mom have
been so much fun. We are keeping Hadley in "school" 2 days a week b/c
she needs the interaction and education and once baby is here I will
need the break. We started swim lessons again (it's been about 9
months), but this time at Emler Swim School where my sister is a
director. After 2 lessons Hadley is already swimming 4-5 seconds on
her own! I'm so impressed w/their program. I know I'm biased but they
are SO much better than the other place we were going. Hadley's doing
so well that her teacher said she can go onto the next level where she
will swim on her own w/out me in the water. We're going to finish this
session, 1 class left, and then she'll move up. She loves the water
and is so confident now. I should have listened to my sister ages ago!
Other than swimming, we've made trips to the zoo(post to come) and
museum. I'm not sure what else we'll do but I'm trying to fit in as
much as I can before the baby comes. About 3 weeks left and while I'm
tired of being pregnant I really want to enjoy the calm before the
storm. I know once baby is here I will miss being pregnant, especially
since this will be my last pregnancy.
In other news, Hadley is doing great at potty training. She has maybe
1 accident a week, which I think is pretty good. She still wears pull-
ups at night and during naps, but one step at a time.
She is learning and growing so much! It seems like she comes home w/a
new song every week and she's gone from counting to actually
recognizing the numbers in books, etc. She's very aware of everything
we say and is a little chatter bug. It's really cool to have complete
coversations with your child. She's good at pronouncing most words
correctly, but I really enjoy the ones she doesn't quite have down. My
favorites are "wingers" for "fingers" and "wa-cane" for "airplane."
Like most 2 year olds she is now super independant and has to do
everything herself. I've had to step back and remind myself that I can
no longer do everything for her. It's been a trial but I think we've
finally got it figured out. She still has her fits and her moments,
but ever since I've stopped hovering and let go a little bit the
tantrums have really been minimal.
Baby #2 is doing well. I've had some minor issues with blood pressure
but overall everything is good. As of Friday, the baby was estimated
to be 7lbs 7oz and they typically gain one ounce a day. I think that
means we're going to have another big baby! I would not be surprised
if my doctor induced me early but we'll have to wait and see.
Well, that's just a short update of how we've been and what we've got
going on. I'm sure I will be updating as things happen. Take care!
