Our trip to the Library!

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but Hadley looooooves books. It's really nothing to do with the content of the book, but more a love with the actual book. There is something about sitting down with a book in her lap, turning the pages all on her own that she just loves. Sometimes she will let me read to her, but most of the time, she wants the book all to herself.

Recently, her favorite is a book about circus elephants. She carries it around with her everywhere and had an absolutely maddening fit the other night because we wouldn't let her sleep with it.

So, of course it made perfect sense to get her a library card. She's been to the library at UTA before, but this was a whole different experience. She ran around quite a bit, and we had a few battles over pulling random books off the shelves. But once we made it to the children's section, I let her go for it. She settled on a Blue's Clues book about Valentine's Day. I literally had to pry the book out of her hands to give to the librarian. She held it all the way home, and was very upset when I asked her to put it down so she could eat lunch. (She also love the little pencils they have, you'll see that in the picture below as well).
I was a little disappointed that she couldn't get her own library card (we live in Lakeside/Fort worth with no city taxes), but luckily the really nice librarian gave me a full membership for 1 year, even though my TexShare card expires in August! I think we can deal with the 50 book limit.

I have to say, it warms my heart that she loves books so much. Neil thinks it might be because she sees me reading ALL the time, so she wants to copy my behavior. Whatever the reason may be, I love it!

Here she is with the her new found treasures on the way home:

Kenyon's first fight at school was over a book. Another kid tried to take her book and she wouldn't let go so s/he bit her. Her Nana,a librarian, was so proud. I always tell Hank I would rather fall over 50 books in the floor than have one Barbie shoe stick in my foot.
