So our friends Kristen and Mike did this with their daughter and we ended up really liking the way it worked. Yes, I'm talking about the baby backpack, aka the baby leash. We haven't actually used it yet but since Hadley is now walking we want her to be able to explore when we go out in public yet we don't want her to slip away from us. This is a great solution. When she gets older she can just use the backpack. You'll be glad to know that we did not submit her to the black hat that comes with this lady bug backpack ;)

ha! I always thought kids on leashes were lame...until I had a kid who must.explore.everything. You can bet your butt I'm putting her on a leash in crowded areas.
You're a nicer mommy than I am, though, because I'd totally put the matching hat on her!
